Terms of Use
Effective: May 2, 2026
By using BibleAI you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please delete the app — we'd rather lose you as a user than mislead you.
What BibleAI is
BibleAI is a Bible reader with an offline AI study assistant. It lets you:
- Read public-domain or CC-licensed Bible translations in 43+ languages.
- Listen to audio narration via on-device text-to-speech.
- Search verses with full-text BM25 ranking.
- Ask questions and get AI-generated answers grounded in scripture (subscription required after the 30-day trial).
The AI is a study tool, not a theological authority. Answers are generated by Google's Gemma 4 model running on your device, informed by the Bible passages we feed it. The AI can be wrong. Always verify references and consult human teachers for theological matters.
Free vs paid features
Bible reading, audio narration, full-text search, cross-references, and bookmarks are 100% free forever, with no account required. All 43+ Bible translations and on-device voices are free downloads.
The AI study assistant is the one paid feature. Every paid plan unlocks identical full access to AI — there is no premium tier with extra features.
30-day free trial
On first install, you get 30 days of AI access automatically. No payment required, no card on file.
After the trial — subscribe to keep using AI
Choose any of these tiers:
- Support: $1.99 / month
- Standard: $2.99 / month
- Fair share: $4.99 / month
- Premium: $9.99 / month
- Annual: $29.99 / year (with a 7-day free trial — the recurring $29.99/year charge starts after the trial unless you cancel)
- 10-year access: $99.99 one-time payment, valid for ten years from the purchase date (until 2036). This is not "lifetime" — the access ends when the ten years end. We chose this honest framing because nothing is truly lifetime: phones die, apps deprecate, OSes end of life. Ten years is a real, measurable period we can stand behind.
All monthly tiers + the annual tier auto-renew unless cancelled. The 10-year tier does not auto-renew (it's a one-time payment).
Even after the AI trial expires, the Bible reader, audio, and search remain free forever. The paywall only gates the AI assistant.
Pricing shown on the App Store is final and may vary slightly by region (Apple handles regional pricing). Auto-renewing subscriptions charge your Apple ID at the start of each period.
Auto-renewal: subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends. Manage and cancel anytime in Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions on your device. Payment is charged to your Apple ID account.
Refunds: Apple processes refunds. Request via reportaproblem.apple.com within Apple's published refund window. We don't process refunds directly because we never receive your payment.
Offline access: when you subscribe, your device stores a locally signed entitlement token valid for the period you paid (e.g. 365 days for an annual subscription, 3650 days for the 10-year purchase, 30 days for monthly tiers). The app keeps working offline for that period — you don't need internet to use what you've paid for.
What you can do with content
Bible texts come from public-domain or Creative Commons sources. You can quote, screenshot, and share verses freely. Specific translations have specific licences — see Settings → Bible Translation → tap a translation to view its licence.
AI-generated answers are yours. You can copy, share, or use them however you wish. We don't claim ownership of AI output.
What you can't do
- Reverse-engineer the app, its AI prompts, or the on-device models.
- Republish the Bible databases as a competing app (the SQLite schema, indices, and packaging are our work; the underlying scripture texts are free, but the curation isn't).
- Use the app to harass, defame, or generate harmful content. AI can refuse certain queries; that's not censorship of scripture, it's the model declining to assist with harmful goals.
- Bypass the subscription paywall (e.g. via jailbreak / sideload). Subscriptions go through Apple StoreKit only.
Intellectual property
- App code, UI, prompts, packaging: © BibleAI. All rights reserved.
- Gemma model: licensed under Google's Gemma Terms of Use (ai.google.dev/gemma/terms). We comply; so do you when using the app.
- Piper voices: each voice has its own licence (CC0, MIT, CC-BY-SA-4.0, CC-BY-4.0). See Settings → Read Aloud → tap a voice for details.
- Bible translations: each translation's licence is shown in Settings → Bible Translation. Most are Public Domain; a few are CC-BY-SA. We display attribution where required.
Disclaimer
BibleAI is provided as is, without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee:
- AI answers are theologically correct, exegetically sound, or pastorally appropriate. The AI is a study aid, not a teacher, pastor, or priest.
- Bible translations are textually identical to printed editions. Errors may exist; report them to bugs@bibleai.com.
- Audio narration pronounces every word correctly, especially proper nouns. Names of biblical places and people are notoriously hard for TTS.
- The app works on every iOS / Android device. Older devices may struggle with the AI flow due to RAM constraints (we recommend 6+ GB RAM for AI).
Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, BibleAI's total liability for any claim related to the app is limited to the amount you paid us in the previous 12 months — typically the cost of one subscription period, or zero for free users.
Termination
You can stop using BibleAI any time by deleting the app. Subscriptions are managed by Apple — cancel via your Apple ID Subscriptions screen.
We can terminate access for users who violate these terms (e.g. attempting to bypass the paywall via jailbreak or sideload, or harassing other users). Termination doesn't entitle you to a pro-rated refund unless required by Apple's policies.
Changes
We may update these Terms. The Effective date at the top will change. Continued use of the app after the date constitutes acceptance.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Latvia (the country where BibleAI is registered), without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Disputes that can't be resolved by polite email will go to courts in Riga, Latvia. EU users retain rights under EU consumer protection law.
